  • How to Avoid a Burglary

When a predator is prowling for dinner, it seeks out the stragglers of the herd, the weaklings.

Generally speaking, burglars do the same thing. They’re looking for the easy steal. It’s in your best interest to help your house play hard to get.

There are a few things you can do to protect your home:

    1. Install an alarm system. It never hurts to have some help when you want to protect your home to the fullest.
    2. Keep your yard in order. If your yard is looking rough or run-down, thieving eyes see neglect– and an easy target.
    3. Don’t do the hide-a-key thing. The secret little key hiders are usually more obvious than we think they are.
    4. Make sure your house doesn’t look deserted– day or night. Burglars are looking for privacy more than darkness. They often won’t avoid an empty home simply because it’s light out.
    5. Don’t forget to lock all your doors and windows when your away from your home. Don’t make their job easy!
    6. Keep a radio or some lights going so they can’t tell whether you’re home or not.

It’s not impossible to protect your home from prowling invaders. And it’s certainly worth a little extra effort to discourage them from choosing your home by making their job a difficult one.
